In the early 1990s, the federal government established a series of tax credits designed to encourage development of opportunities in economically challenged regions designated as “Empowerment Zones” and “Renewal Community Zones.” While these credits are available to companies located within these zones, many organizations are unaware that they are eligible for these tax credits – or, that these credits may be claimed for prior years.
